“Mama!!” Italy wailed as he fled from Holy roman empire who was chasing after him. Romano was taking a siesta as you cooked lunch. You immediately charged outside after hearing your baby’s screams for help and withdrew your sword.
“Ah! (c/n)!” Holy rome turned on his heels and fled as Italy ran up and hid behind you.
“Mia bambino, are you alright?” you cooed to your child as he sniffled and nodded
“Ti amo mama! Thank you for saving me!” he chirped as you smiled and picked him up.
“Let’s have lunch, ok?” you murmured as he clung to you as you walked inside your home.
“what are we having?” Feliciano asked as you placed him down so he could eat
“Pasta” you giggled as Feliciano’s face lit up with a wide grin. Lovino came in, rubbing the sleep from his eyes as he sat beside his brother. You served the two of them as they hungrily scarfed their plates contents.
“Mama makes the best pasta in the whole wide world!” Feliciano cheered as Lovino quietly nodded his head.
“I’m back, mia bella!” you cringed at hearing the greeting. You turned to see Rome smiling, covered in dirt, scratches and bruises.
“You were out drinking and fighting again, weren’t you?” you scowled and folded your arms
“N-No! I was just out getting you flowers!” He stammered and held up a tiny bouquet of flowers; obviously plucked from the garden.
“He’s lying. He was fighting and drinking” Germania grunted as your glare intensified.
“How could-a you rat me out!?” Rome wailed to his best friend as Germania smirked
“It’s never smart to lie to your wife” Germania chuckled
“Please-a don’t let her hurt me!” Rome pleaded
“I have to get back to my little ones as well” Germania shook his head and left. You tapped your fingers against the table as you had a hand on one hip, angrily waiting for Rome’s explanation.
“Lovi, Feli, why don’t you two go take a siesta?” you cooed to them for a moment
“But I just took one!”
“I don’t want to take a siesta alone, fratello!” Feliciano whined
“Fine! You owe me for this!” Lovino huffed as he and his brother walked to their bedroom and softly clicked the door shut.
“Don’t you dare give me excuses!” you hissed at him
“I’m sorry (y/n), I just wanted to have a little fun, just a drink or two and a small fight here and there” Rome purred as he wrapped his arms around your waist.
“You’re going to ruin yourself with all this fighting. If your not careful, you’ll end up not being able to heal anymore” you softly chided as you leaned your head against his toned chest.
“I know…..I promise to only fight to protect you and our bambinos” he huskily murmured
“Don’t start thinking I’m going to forget this” you added
“I know” he chuckled and tried to kiss you until you put a finger to his lips.
“Is this lipstick!!??” you examined his shirt collar and found red smears.
“I-It’s wine!” he stuttered until you raised an eyebrow
“Ok, it’s lipstick. I got-a a bit tipsy and flirted with some nice ladies” he rubbed the back of his head.
“Why do I even bother….” You sniffled and shoved him away from you and stomped out of the room.
“(y/n)! Wait!” Rome called out until you ran outside and away from the house.
You walked until you came upon a grassy hill. The sun was setting and casting a orange, pink and yellow glow that covered the field.
“Germania?” you asked as you noticed the Germanic nation sitting with his legs crossed atop the hill.
“Hmm? Oh, it’s you (y/n). I see you found my thinking spot” he murmured
“Mind if I join you?” you asked
“Not at all” He patted the spot beside him as you sat down, glancing at the sinking sun.
“I thought you had to take care of your children?” you asked
“I did, they’re napping right now” he answered
“Mine too” you added
“I take it you and Romulus fought again?” he mused as you nodded
“I can tell, your eyes are watery and you’re looking slum” he explained
“I just don’t understand why he won’t listen to me. The more he drinks, fights and cheats, the more upset I feel” you choked out
“Romulus is like a lion, he lets the female do the work for him. He thinks he can do whatever he wants because he has power” Germania murmured as he patted your back.
“I know he loves to drink and fight, but the cheating part is the part I hate the most!” you sobbed
“What does Ancient Greece and Ancient Egypt have that I don’t?” you asked quietly
“Nothing. You have everything they don’t and then some. You are very beautiful, smart, funny and loving. You have two beautiful babies, a lovely home, a stable economy, good government, and unique monuments in your country. Romulus is just too naïve to see that” Germania grunted
“I really do wish you had gone with me instead of him” he added softly as you blushed. You had been close friends with Germania and Rome since you three first began your time as nations. You eventually became the object of Rome’s affection without realizing that Germania was in love with you as well.
“Alaric, you’re my closest friend. I love you, just as much as I love Romulus” You leaned over and hugged him, lightly pecking his cheek as you stood up.
“But our time is coming to an end (y/n). I can feel it. Romulus and I will fall soon….You are more stable than us, so you will still stand” he spoke as you turned to him and nodded
“(y/n)?” Alaric muttered as you looked up into his blue eyes
“If we do fall, please watch over my little ones, as if they were your own” he pleaded
“Of course, just tell HRE to stop picking on my poor little Italy, he’s rather sensitive” you smiled as he softly smiled back and stood up. He brushed the grass off of him and walked back down the hill with you.
“I can do that, and if that Roman idiot upsets you again, I’ll kick his ass” he added as he waved goodbye and left towards his own home, and you back to yours.
“Bella, you’re back!” Romulus sighed and quickly engulfed you in a tight hug. He began feverishly pecking kisses all over you before you giggled and kissed him back.
“I missed you….look, (y/n). I’m so sorry about what I did…..I promise I won’t cheat on you ever again….” He softly gazed at you with his soft amber eyes.
“You better not or I’ll tell Alaric and he’ll kick your ass” you growled
“That’s the bella ragazza I love!” Romulus chuckled as he pulled you onto his lap and sat on the sofa. He reached over and grabbed two glasses as a bottle of wine.
“Let’s just cuddle and talk tonight, hm? Just you and me” he winked as he poured the wine and handed a glass to you.
“Does this mean grandpa Rome and mama aren’t getting a divorce?” you heard Feliciano squeak from around the corner
“No you idiota! Mama loves Grandpa Rome, and he’d be nothing without her!” Lovino spat
“Come here, my little bambinos!” you called as Feliciano ran up and climbed in between you and Rome with Lovino slowly trailing after him.
“I still can’t thank you enough….” Romulus purred as you raised a puzzled brow at him.
“Thank me for what?” you asked
“For blessing me with two gorgeous little boys” he leaned in and passionately kissed you.
“Awww” Feliciano cooed as Lovino covered his own eyes and made a disgusted sound.
You had long since stood as the nation of (c/n), long after so many other ancient nations fell. You had witnessed the fall of Germania and Rome, dying in each other’s grasps. You then took over caring for all the smaller nations that they once cared for. Over the years, Germania’s thinking spot became yours. You could almost swear you felt Alaric and Romulus’ presences beside you.
Germania had left you to care for Hungary, Austria, Germany, Prussia, Liechtenstein and Switzerland. You cared for your sons Italy and Romano. France and Spain gave you no trouble until they started to control Italy and Romano.
By the time Austria had been Italy’s boss and Romano with Spain as his, you were too weak to keep them out of anyone’s control. Your only true objective was to see to it that they did not fall as your beloved Rome had.
You finally fell as the others did. Lovino had a special city in southern Italy named after you. It was close to the ocean and was nothing but beautiful fields, forests, mountains and the very house you lived in with Romulus, rested below the grassy hill you had ventured up so many times.
