Marco x Reader: A Whole New World

“It’s a shame I can’t see any stars tonight” you sighed as you leaned against the railings of the Moby Dick. Your fellow crewmate and first division commander Marco glanced at you with a blonde eyebrow raised. One of your favorite pastimes on the ship was watching the stars. But tonight several clouds ruined your view of the twinkling sky lights.


“You must really like stars, huh?” Marco asked as you smiled slightly and nodded with his words. Looking at the stars made you feel at ease and somewhat showed you how vast the universe was.


“Stars remind me of how huge our world is. And we’re only a small part of it” you sighed as Marco turned to see Ace, sleeping whilst slumped against the wall of the ship’s hood.


Marco walked over and nudged Ace with his foot as the fire-fist commander grunted awake. Marco leaned over and whispered something in his ear as you watched them with a curious look.


You turned back to see the clouds growing denser as your chances of seeing stars that night decreased.


“Hey, (y/n)?” You turned to see Ace grinning down at you as you raised an eyebrow


“What is it Ace?” you turned your body to the side to look at him and gasped as his hands gently pushed you backwards. You landed on something large but soft as you looked to see Marco’s phoenix form beneath you.

Marco’s wings flapped and pounded the air as he lifted off the ship’s deck and became airborne. You clung to him and tried not to choke him with your arms around his neck.


You kept your eyes shut as the wind blew your hair around your face and shivered from how cold the night air was as you gained altitude.

Over sideways and under
On a magic phoenix ride~


“Open your eyes, (y/n)” Marco called as you gained the courage to open your eyes. You slowly opened them to see you were flying above the clouds. The moon illuminated the top of the clouds, casting a gentle white glow. The stars above were brighter and more vivid from how close you were.


“This is amazing Marco!” You shouted and smiled up at the thousands of shimmering stars. It almost reminded you of diamonds sparkling in the sunlight.


“I know” he smirked as you gawked at the rare sight before your eyes.

“Isn’t this a better point of view?” Marco asked as you nodded


“This is incredible, I never imagined I’d ever get a view like this” you beamed as you smiled and watched the clouds below you whirl and flow almost like the waves of the ocean. It was a spectacular perspective to see the sky above the sea.


“This feels almost like a dream” you breathed as you closed your eyes in bliss for a moment as Marco continued to gentle beat his wings to glide above the cloud layer.

“The stars are so crystal clear” you murmured as Marco hummed and nodded


“That’s why I took you up here, I thought you might appreciate it” he added


“Oh thank you Marco! This is like a whole new world” you awed as the stars shone and dazzled in the thick black sheet of sky that stretched forever.


“I’m glad you like it, (y/n)” Marco chuckled



~Unbelievable sights
Indescribable feeling
Soaring, tumbling, freewheeling
Through an endless diamond sky~



“Hang on, I’m going down” Marco called as you nodded and kept a slightly tighter hold on his neck. He lowered his neck as his body began merging with the clouds, passing through them. You looked up to see the bank of clouds was gone, leaving the moon and stars to shine above the ocean without clouds in the way.


“There, that’s better” Marco sighed as you smiled and looked down at the shining waves. The water was almost as black as the sky with a white reflection from the moon and stars.


“You can let go of my neck, you won’t fall off” Marco mentioned as you gulped and slowly released your grip on his neck. You slowly held your arms out to your sides and giggled at the wind nipping at your skin. You reached down to race your hand across the water’s surface.


“I need to fly higher” Marco called as you nodded and held onto him once more. Marco lifted his body as his wings pounded the air and projected you higher into the sky. Just as you were slightly higher, a Sea King leaped from the water, snapping it’s large mouth full of sharp teeth at the air you and Marco were once flying in.

“Don’t close your eyes, it’s not going to get you” Marco laughed as you flinched from seeing the giant ocean beast nearly attack you two.


“Hey Marco, haven’t we flown pretty far from the ship?” you asked as Marco nodded


“We’re a few miles ahead of the ship, Pops isn’t going to care” he mentioned as you loosened your grip on his neck.


“I almost wish we could keep flying forever” you murmured


“But then night would become day then the stars wouldn’t be there” he noted as you sighed and lowered your torso to rest on his back.


“How come your body’s flames aren’t burning me?” you asked as you glanced at the blue flames flickering off his feathery body.


“Because I don’t want them to burn you” he retorted as you gently ran your fingers through his warm feathers. His body was the perfect temperature of heat to where he wasn’t baking you but it wasn’t a weak heat either.


“Don’t you dare pluck my feathers” he added sourly as you giggled and buried your face into the base of his neck. You soon began feeling your eyelids grow heavy as the night carried on.


“Marco, can we go back?” you mumbled and yawned a bit as Marco chuckled


“Of course” he answered as he curved his body to turn back around to fly back towards the large ship you both called home.

“We still have time before we can make it back to the ship” Marco mentioned as you nodded in a hazy stupor.


“Did I tire you out?” he cooed as you yawned in response. Marco kept flying steadily and smoothly as you laid on his back.


“How can you fly for so long without getting tired? Am I heavy?” you asked as Marco continued flying


“I don’t get tired easily, and in this form, weight is irrelevant. Phoenixes can carry incredibly heavy weights with ease” he answered as you nodded in awe at his strength.


“I guess you’ve had enough surprises and new horizons for one night” he muttered as you snuggled into his feathers.


“Thank you Marco” you murmured


“Don’t mention it, (y/n)” he hummed as you smiled and looked to see the Moby Dick coming into view on the sea.


“I’m glad I was able to show you a whole new world” Marco added as his wings flapped in slow, steady beats.


“It’s our new world” you giggled as you felt Marco’s flames waver for a moment

“Did you two have fun?” Ace asked as Marco landed smoothly on the ship’s deck with a graceful stop. Marco transformed and carried you on his back. You rubbed your eyes and stood as Marco kept an arm around your shoulders. His arm was barely keeping you warm now that his flames were no longer enveloping you.


“Good night you two” Ace yawned and walked towards the bunks of the ship’s sleeping quarters  as you turned to look at Marco.


“I had a wonderful time, Marco” you blushed lightly as Marco smiled down at you.

“I’m glad. I hope we can do that again sometime” he chuckled as you nervously glanced up at him


“I want to always do that with you, Marco. I-I really like you” you muttered as Marco’s brows furrowed before he gently cupped your chin using his hand to guide your lips to his. You moaned gently into the kiss as the familiar warmth returned to you.


“I love you too (y/n), let’s get some sleep” Marco lifted you up and carried you into the sleeping quarters as he placed you on your bed and laid beside you. Marco pulled the covers over you both and held you close to his body, as his warmth radiated from him to you.


“The sky will be our world, for you and me” Marco brushed your hair away from your face before softly kissing your forehead as you drifted off into a peaceful sleep beside him.
