Luffy x Reader: I Just Can't Wait to be King

~I'm gonna be a mighty king
So enemies beware
Well, I've never seen a king of beasts
With quite so little hair
I'm gonna be the mane (main) event
Like no king was before
I'm brushing up on looking down
I'm working on my roar~


“LUFFY! Get down here!” Sanji hissed as Luffy climbed up the railings and riggings of the ship to escape the wrath of the love-chef. Luffy had been caught swiping meat from the kitchen again as he held a slice of beef between his teeth like an animal with its prey.


“Leave him alone, Sanji. He’s just hungry” you intervened as Sanji’s eyes filled with hearts.


“Oh (y/n)-chan, you can steal anything, even my heart! That glutton however is another story!” Sanji sneered towards Luffy as he cheekily swallowed the meat and grinned broadly.


“Just wait Sanji, when I’m king of the pirates, I’ll be able to eat as much meat as I want” Luffy chirped proudly as Sanji rolled his eyes. Every pirate on the ship had a dream. Luffy’s was finding the One Piece and becoming king of the pirates, Sanji’s was finding the All Blue with all the world’s fish, and yours was to never have to worry about the future. You just wanted excitement after leaving your dull village that ignored you. If being with Luffy brought excitement, then you’d be happy. But your heart said it wanted more.


Being a part of Luffy’s crew was a dream come true in itself. Everyone cared for one another, if someone needed help they helped and they were like a family.

“We still have a long way to go before we can find the One Piece” you smiled as Luffy dangled upside down before landing next to you.


“I know that. Might as well make the trip fun!” he grinned

“Is it just me or does Luffy have more energy today then usual?” Nami asked as Luffy bounded around the deck, erupting a game of tag with Chopper and Usopp.


“I think he does. He’s just eager to make his dream come true. I think it’s admirable for him to hold onto his dream so tight” you giggled as Nami smirked and raised an eyebrow at you.


“What?” you asked as you noticed her look


“You totally have a crush on Luffy” she giggled as you playfully smacked her arm.


“So what!?” you snapped as Nami laughed and held her stomach. You had always loved your energetic and enthusiastic captain. He made being a pirate fun.


“I wish you’d tell him” Nami murmured as she regained her calm composure. You sighed and looked out at the deep blue waters of the sea.


“I want to, but what if he doesn’t understand? I mean, for crying out loud he rejected Boa Hancock, one of the world’s most beautiful human beings! What chance do I have?” you asked as Nami placed an encouraging hand on your shoulder.


“Every king needs a queen. If he’s gonna be king of the pirates, you might as well fight to be queen” she smiled as you nodded and accepted the advice. Supporting Luffy was a good way to go if you wanted to keep being close to him.


~No one saying, "Do this"
Now when I said that, I
No one saying, "Be there"
What I meant was
No one saying, "Stop that"
Look, what you don't realize
No one saying, "See here"
Now see here~


“Luffy you get to do dishes since you stole meat earlier as punishment” Sanji barked as Luffy groaned and slammed his head against the table.
The crew stood and left the dining room, leaving their dirty dishes from dinner behind. You stayed as Luffy began collecting dishes. It was almost cute how Luffy fumbled with a sponge and trying to wash the dishes.


“Hey, Luffy, I can do the dishes for you if you want” you piped up as Luffy turned his head to smile at you.


“You’d do that for me?! You’re the best (y/n)!” Luffy cheered as he handed you the dish and sponge and left the dining room quickly. You smiled as you rolled your eyes and began washing the dishes in the place of your hyper captain.





“Luffy! Stop eating all the damn food!!” Sanji yelled as he chased Luffy around the deck. Luffy had an armful of apples including one in his mouth.


“There he goes again” you laughed as Luffy passed the apples to Usopp who began running from Sanji. Then they passed to Chopper and the game of ‘Hot Potato’ or in this case, ‘Hot Apples’ ensued.

  Everywhere you look I'm
  Standin' in the spotlight
  Not yet~

“Look over there!” Luffy pointed as a flock of seagulls flew past. You laughed as Chopper waved hello to them whilst Usopp insisted they cooked a seagull for dinner.


“You should tell him soon” Nami whispered in your ear as you blushed


“I guess I can try” you mumbled as you turned your gaze to your captain who was sitting at the front of the ship, holding his straw hat to his head and grinning widely.


“The whole ship practically knows, so you might as well do it before someone accidentally tells him for you” Robin giggled as your eyes widened.

“Oh no!” you wailed as Nami and Robin giggled. Franky, Zoro and Brook turned and gave each other nudges and turned to grin at you, possibly secretly pressuring you to tell Luffy your feelings for him.


You felt like you were the center of attention. If you told Luffy, you faced rejection. If you didn’t tell Luffy, you faced rejection and possibly being humiliated in front of the entire crew. You swallowed your fear and decided to gather your courage to tell Luffy.

“Hey Luffy? Can I talk to you?” you asked as Luffy turned his head and gave you his usual happy grin. You blushed as you glanced around and realized Chopper and Usopp had snuck away to give you privacy.


The crew hid and eagerly listened (more like eavesdropped) to hear the confession and reaction. Even bulky Franky was poor and hiding out of sight. Nami and Robin peeked through the cabin windows, Chopper and Usopp hid behind barrels, Zoro peeked down from the crow’s nest with Brook, and Franky tried being behind the mast.


“What’s up (y/n)?” Luffy asked as he tilted his head to listen to you.


“I know your dream is to be king of the pirates, and well, I admire your will to hold onto your dream. But, would you mind if my dream mingled with yours?” you asked as Luffy scratched his head and pondered


“Well, I guess it depends on your dream. What is your dream (y/n)?” Luffy asked as you blushed and started to look down at yours and Luffys’ feet.


“To be queen of the pirates” you murmured as Luffy froze. He grinned and shook his head.

“You can’t, I’m gonna be king (y/n)!” oh great. He didn’t get it! You mentally sobbed as you heard the hiding crew members sigh in exasperation.


“But you can, if you be my queen. Even the king of pirates needs a queen and I don’t know anyone else better for the job” Luffy smiled as you blushed.


“I’ll be your queen till the end, Luffy” you giggled as Luffy eagerly jumped around before wrapping his arms around you multiple times. You squealed as Luffy lifted you off the ground and spun with you before quickly kissing you passionately. You closed your eyes in bliss and wrapped your arms around his neck.


The crew jumped out and cheered. You blushed as Nami and Robin hugged each other, Brook played harmonious music on his violin with Chopper and Usopp dancing like madmen. Zoro and Franky high-fived each other and smirked at their captain. Meanwhile, poor Sanji was crying and wailing about losing you to Luffy.


“I’m making you my vice-captain (y/n)” Luffy murmured as you playfully took his straw hat and placed it on your own head. Luffy grinned and pressed his lips on yours again.
