Keldeo laughed as it played with its friend (y/n). (y/n) was a little human girl that gave Keldeo berries and played games with it. (y/n)’s town didn’t have many children her age to play with. One day she stumbled across Keldeo and their friendship bloomed.

“You’re my best friend Keldeo” (y/n) giggled as she hugged it. Keldeo nodded as (y/n) squealed and ran with Keldeo racing after her.

Keldeo froze in its tracks and looked up to see the Swords of Justice staring down at him. Cobalion, Virizion and Terrakion all distrusted humans for taking away the habitats and homes of pokemon. Keldeo knew the other three were disappointed and disapproved.

‘Come Keldeo. Say goodbye to the human” Cobalion ordered as Keldeo looked sadly at its friend then back at the Swords of Justice. Keldeo slowly walked towards (y/n) before nuzzling her goodbye. (y/n) began to cry as she watched her friend leave. Terrakion and Virizion stood between her and Keldeo.

Keldeo vowed to grow stronger in the hopes that he was one day able to see her again. Keldeo trained day and night and impressed the other Swords of Justice with its dedication and determination. It took many years before Keldeo was ready and worthy of being A sword of justice.

“I think Keldeo deserves a treat, I heard of a place that sells sweet things in the nearby human town. We can venture there to get him one” Virizion spoke

“But there’s humans everywhere and we might be captured” Terrakion objected.

“I’ll be with him so there’s nothing to worry about” Virizion added as Cobalion nodded in approval. Virizion showed Keldeo how to use his human form and followed Virizion to the human town.

Keldeo ran in front of Virizion and peered into shop windows and stores eagerly. Virizion chuckled at his excitement. Keldeo walked towards the sweets shop Virizion pointed to and froze as he stared through the glass window. A young girl with beautiful (h/c) hair and bright (e/c) eyes was smiling and handing over treats to a pair of young children. Keldeo felt his heart beat faster upon looking at her.

Keldeo walked in and approached her. He chose a parfait and looked at the girl more closely.

“(Y/n)?” Keldeo asked as the girl tilted her head.

“Do I know you from somewhere? I’ve never seen you in town before” she asked

“Oh, um never mind” Keldeo took his parfait and dashed out the store after paying and ran into Virizion. He was flustered and had no idea what to do.

“I take it you enjoy your treat?” Virizion asked as Keldeo nodded and finished off the creamy sweet.

“Let’s head back” Virizion hummed as Keldeo followed back out of town and back to the forests they called home.

A few more years had passed since Keldeo saw his beloved friend again. He couldn’t stop thinking about her as he trained and strived to become even stronger. Strong enough and brave enough to speak with her again.

“I’m going to take a walk” Keldeo spoke as Cobalion nodded whilst Terrakion was napping and Virizion was grooming itself.

Keldeo walked back into the town. Not much had changed, the people were still lively and music played happily. Keldeo kept glancing at posters hung everywhere around town and he stepped closer to one to examine it.

The posters detailed a sword fighting contest. Men would duel one another for the hand of a young woman. Keldeo was stunned when he realized the young woman was (y/n). Her family was giving (y/n)’s hand in marriage to whoever was the best sword fighter. Keldeo couldn’t pass up an opportunity to see her again and to prove his swordsmanship skills.

Keldeo walked towards the town plaza where the tournament was held. He signed up on a slip of paper and checked his sword. His horn transformed into a sword when he took human form. Keldeo frowned as other swordsmen snickered at him.

Keldeo went up against his first opponent and easily defeated him. Progressively the duels grew harder and harder. Keldeo was nearing the final battles for (y/n).

“I’ll win her hand after I take you out” an older human man grunted as his blade was countered by Keldeo’s. Keldeo quickly maneuvered his sword to knock his opponent’s weapon out of hand. The sword flew and landed feet from the opponent as Keldeo raised his sword to point at the loser.

“Victory goes to the red corner” the referee held a red flag up signaling his triumph. Keldeo had one last person to defeat. Keldeo was faced against a man who wore an outfit resembling a Scizor.

“I won’t lose” Keldeo murmured and the ding chimed for the match to begin as the opponent charged Keldeo. Keldeo dodged and parried his attack before thrusting his sword and clashing it with the rival blade. Keldeo was feeling overpowered and out matched. He felt his sword grow heavier with every move. Keldeo glanced over at (y/n) as she smiled at him and waved her hand. Keldeo found renewed strength and felt invigorated to fight harder. Keldeo felt his blade become lighter as his hat changed and his blade shifted into a thicker blade with a feathered and colorful hilt.

With one final sweep Keldeo disarmed the man and held his sword proudly before him. The man sunk to his knees and screamed in anger over losing to Keldeo. The crowds cheered as Keldeo sheathed his sword. (y/n) and her family came to greet and congratulate Keldeo for his victory.

“Congratulations, you’ve won the honor of taking my daughter to be your wife” her father smiled as (y/n) blushed and looked up at Keldeo. Keldeo smiled down at her before turning to look at her father.

“I don’t want to marry (y/n), I simply ask that she meet me by the town fountain. I need to speak with her about something very important” Keldeo explained as (y/n)’s father stood baffled by his request. (y/n) smiled and agreed to meet him at the desired location at nightfall.

Keldeo waited and smiled as (y/n) approached him.
“What was it you wanted to speak about?” she asked as Keldeo took her hand in his

“Do you remember playing with a pokemon as a child?” he asked as she smiled and nodded

“I believe that pokemon was Keldeo, I remember waiting for it to return but it never did. It was my best friend and I would give anything to see it again” she murmured as Keldeo blushed.

Keldeo leaned down and softly kissed (y/n) as he began to transform and looked up at her.

“It’s you!” she gasped as she kneeled down to hug Keldeo. She was happy to be reunited with her long lost friend.

“Our feelings for one another are forbidden. The swords of justice would never allow it, and your father would want to marry you to a human man, not a pokemon” Keldeo explained as he turned human again whilst (y/n) shook her head.

“Please don’t leave me again” she murmured as Keldeo nodded and held her.

“I knew it” Keldeo turned to see Cobalion, Virizion and Terrakion with angered expressions.

“What’s the meaning of this?!” (y/n)’s father and several defeated swordsman from the tournament was alongside him. Keldeo transformed back into a pokemon as (y/n)’s father gasped

“A human and a pokemon?! This is ridiculous I won’t allow it!” (y/n)’s father yelled

“How dare you disobey us Keldeo. We are very disappointed” Cobalion snapped

“Please, don’t separate us. I have been training for years so I could be with (y/n) again. She is my reason for discovering my resolve and resolution” Keldeo pleaded as he showed the Swords of Justice his resolute form. Virizion, Cobalion and Terrakion were surprised at his progressed form.

“(y/n) you need to marry a human man! One that can make you happy and protect you!” (y/n)’s father yelled

“Keldeo makes me happy and always had. Keldeo has proven that he can protect me better than any of those swordsmen!” (y/n) argued.

“Why can’t we live in harmony with humans?! They need to build homes for themselves at the expense of pokemon and the forest, but we’re no different. Pokemon cause problems for humans too. We must learn to settle our differences and work together!” Keldeo explained as the Swords of Justice were taken by surprise at Keldeo’s courage and defense of humans.

“I don’t want to marry someone I don’t love. I don’t want to get married and watch my life pass by. I want to explore the world and see all kinds of pokemon. I want to live and see everything I can! I want to leave this town and go on a journey” (y/n) looked at her father whom looked at her then at Keldeo.

“We have misjudged humans. It was not them, but us as well” Virizion murmured

“I say we give them a chance” Cobalion nodded

“I agree. Keldeo is strong enough now” Terrakion agreed as Keldeo smiled

“I never knew that was how you felt. In that case, who am I to stop you from fulfilling your dreams?” (y/n)’s father smiled as he hugged her. (y/n) turned and smiled at Keldeo as he caressed her cheek before kissing her.

Keldeo transformed into a pokemon as (y/n) sat on his back. Keldeo looked back to the Swords of Justice and bowed its head. (y/n) waved goodbye and smiled at her father before taking off with Keldeo on a journey of their own, to challenge the world and see all that it held for them.
