Gijinka!Darkrai x Reader: Dreams and Nightmares

(y/n) flailed in her sleep as she felt fear clutch her heart. Her nightmares were progressively getting worse and she could hardly have a pleasant night’s sleep. A dark shadow kept appearing in her dreams, haunting her, watching her.

“You’re mine…” (y/n) heard before she woke up with a jolt, sweat beading down her face. She got up and grabbed a glass of water to settle her nerves. She sat at her computer to look up remedies for these nightmares. According to various websites she found, psychic pokemon could use hypnosis and various other abilities to put something to sleep and control dreams.

(y/n) looked over at her Espeon and smiled. Espeon would more than willingly help her sleep, they were thick as thieves and best friends. Espeon mewled and agreed to help (y/n) sleep and keep good dreams.

(y/n) closed her eyes and tried to go back to sleep with the help of Espeon. The dream started out plain, just colors until the shadow figure returned. It stood and watched her. A bright light suddenly flashed as the shadow figure flinched and it was revealed to be a man. He had flowing white hair, piercing blue eyes and a black billowy cloak. He stared into (y/n) before transforming into a pokemon that she had never seen before.

(y/n) awoke and realized it was now morning. Espeon had held off the strange shadow man/pokemon. She decided to research the pokemon she saw in her dream.

“Darkrai, the Pitch-Black pokemon, to protect itself, it afflicts those around it with nightmares. However, it means no harm” (y/n) read from her pokedex and blinked in surprise. Darkrai must’ve been dwelling in her dreams and giving her nightmares. Maybe it was scared or felt threatened.

(y/n) decided to try to talk to Darkrai and work things out. Show it she meant it no harm. (y/n) allowed Espeon to use Hypnosis on her as she quickly fell asleep.

(y/n) found herself in a decently lit room. There was red furniture and black walls and accents. An old record player was playing a slow jazz tune. She was somehow wearing a red dress and heels with her (h/c) colored hair done nicely to show her (e/c) colored eyes.

“You’ve come to me at long last” she turned to see Darkrai in its human form, holding out a hand to her. He held a small smile on his face. She hesitantly took his hand as he pulled her to his chest.

He began slowly spinning her around and dancing with her.

“I need to know why you are giving me nightmares, Darkrai” she murmured as he gently caressed her cheek.

“I’ve been watching your dreams for a while now. Even the nightmares I created for you are beautiful. Nobody dreams like you. I just wanted to enjoy your dreams, but I accidentally turned them into nightmares. I have been waiting for you to notice me. I want to always be in your dreams” he muttered as (y/n) lightly blushed. Darkrai chuckled in amusement and spun her around.

“Please, do me an honor. Capture me. I’m tired of being alone and unwanted by everyone. I never meant to hurt them. I just wanted to make nightmares” Darkrai handed her a black pokeball with red details and a blue gem in the middle.

(y/n) decided it may end both of their sufferings this way and tapped Darkrai with the pokeball and captured him.

(y/n) woke up and felt something in her hand and saw it was the pokeball containing Darkrai from her dream. She threw the pokeball as Darkrai turned to look at her. It flew towards her and placed a clawed hand on her cheek and transformed into a human again. He smiled before placing his lips on hers. She was stunned for a moment as Darkrai held her.

“You’ll always be mine. I won’t let anyone see your dreams, only me” he murmured. From then on, (y/n) no longer had nightmares. Darkrai managed her dreams and chased away negative dreams from happening.
